Mind Connections with Floating

Lets start with a definition of “Mental Health” so that we are all on the same page.  Mental Health as defined by Wikipedia is “the psychological state of someone who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioral adjustment”. From the perspective of positive psychology or holism, mental health may include an individual’s ability to enjoy life, and create a balance between life activities.”

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act as we cope with life. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Our Mental Health is an essential part of our well being and a health life style.  Every moment of everyday our brain is bombarded with internal signals from our heart, lungs, and all our essential organs.  Our brain systematically organizes these signals and “maps” them and gives us our sense of how we are feeling at any given moment.  When these maps or signals are broken this is when one experiences anxiety, addiction and mental illnesses.

So how does floating tie into all of this?  Well, when floating, the brain is able to concentration on fixing the broken maps.  By removing all external stimuli that you find in the float room your brain gets to reflect inward and heal itself.  Research by Dr. Justin Feinstein at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research indicate that floating restores the signals and maps that are broken in a way that rivals prescription drugs and meditation.  In other words, floating research is proving that floating is a better tool to heal anxiety and mental health.  No drugs needed!  Its worth a try if you haven’t already.

Going forward, let’s not just work on our physical health but let’s all work on our mental health as well and float to get amazing mental health!
